Ottawa, Kansas —  The oldest operating cinema in America, The Plaza Cinema, 209 S. Main St., opened a movie memorabilia museum May 15, 2013.  The exhibit includes an impressive collection of movie props, costumes, scripts, posters and original signed photographs from big screen favorites such as King Kong, Three Musketeers, Hunger Games, Creature from the Black Lagoon and much more. Cinema Executive Director Peach Madl said the collections are a joy to see and were acquired with help from the Franklin County Historical Society and special friends.

The museum is a celebration of cinema magic and reflects the films played at The Plaza Cinema over the past 111 years.

Lawrence resident Keith Lonecker, actor in "Superbad", "Out of Sight", "Leatherheads", Lakeview Terrace" and the upcoming "Jersey Boys" was at the museum’s grand opening. Arrived at the museum's grand opening in style with limo service and police escort.
